The WTNM Silver Cup Competition Guidelines
"Tied Together in Bloom"
Registration due by July 15th, LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE
1. The competition is open to any designer, regardless of WTNM membership status; however, all entrants must be registered for the convention.
2. Designer’s will all be presented a surprise element that must be used.
3. Each entrant will be required to complete two designs within two hours. There is a 15 minute question and answer session before the start of competition. Tardiness can result in disqualification.
4. A table will be provided for each designer.
5. Floral products (fresh flowers, dried and/or silks) and containers will be provided for the
entrants. All will have equal allotments of floral supplies. Entrants will only bring tools
and mechanical supplies (tape, wire, glue, etc.).
6. The designs must be deliverable. Deliverable is defined as in an enclosed van or van
type vehicle. Designs may be described as deliverable if they can be disassembled into sections and reassembled. Extremely tall, one-piece designs are not considered deliverable designs.
7. Work table must be cleaned and ready when time has been called. Floor, trash, etc. can be cleaned after time is up.
8. Judges, at their discretion, have the right to ask the designer to disassemble and reassemble their design, to clarify deliverability.
9. Three qualified industry professionals will perform judging. Contestants are not allowed in the competition area during judging.
10. Criteria will include mechanics, design principles, creativity, and relevance to the theme.
11. Failure to abide by the set rules may result in disqualification of the entrant.
12. Three winning entrants will be recognized at the Awards luncheon on Sunday.
13. Prize money may vary from year to year and will be announced. For 2025,
First Place winner will receive $750.00 and a $1,000.00 scholarship to the Floral Design Institute!
2nd Place - $500.00
3rd Place - $250.00
14. First place winner of the Silver Cup will be ineligible to compete for this prestigious
award again.
15. Entry fee is $35.00
The Dorsey Memorial Design Competition Guidelines
"Circle of Celebration"
Registration due by July 15th - LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE
1. The competition is open to any designer regardless of WTNM membership status; however, all entrants must be registered for the convention.
2. Designers will have 1 1/2 hours competition time. There will also be a 15 minute question and answer session prior to the competition time. Tardiness can result in disqualification.
3. A table will be provided for each contestant.
4. Floral products (fresh flowers, dried and/or silks) and containers will be provided for the entrants. All will have equal allotments of floral supplies. Entrants will only bring tools and mechanical supplies (tape, wire, glue, etc.).
5. The designs must be deliverable. Deliverable is defined as in an enclosed van or van type vehicle. The design may be described as deliverable if they can be disassembled in sections and reassembled. Extremely tall, one piece designs are not considered deliverable designs.
6. Judges, at their discretion, have the right to ask the designers to disassemble and reassemble their designs, to clarify deliverability.

9. In the event of a tie, the winner will be chosen based on the highest cumulative score for mechanics.
10.Failure to abide by set rules may result in disqualification of the entrant. 11.Three scholarship awards will be given as follows:
a. First Place. $150.00
b. Second Place $75.00
c. Third Place $50.00
12.The scholarships may be used to compete in further design competitions, attend floral conventions, attend symposiums within the realm of the floral industry, or to attend floral related classes at any accredited school or college.
13.The scholarship recipients will have two years to use the funds. The scholarships will expire on August 31st, two years after each competition (for example, winners of the competition during convention August 9, 10, 11, 2019 will have until August 31st, 2021 to use their scholarship money). Moneys are payable directly to the institution providing the service.
14.The First place winner will receive a commemorative “Dorsey Memorial Education Scholarship” pin.
15.The First Place winner may compete again after two years.
